Description: The vineyards of Domaine Py are ideally situated on clayey-lime soils on the slopes and plain at the foot of Alaric Mountain influenced by Mediterranean sea winds and Pyrenees Mountains. The vineyard spread over 140ha (400 acres) There are 2 groupes of wine: the apellation AOC Corbières (Old-vine Carignan, Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault), and « IGP Pays d’OC » (local wines), varieties (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, etc.).
Mr Py, the son of wine-merchant from Carcassonne launched domaine in 2003. He started from nothing. The buildings were empty. The winery missed equipment. It was five full years of intense work and investment, during which time a dedication to producing organic wine became a high priority and profoundly personal conviction.. It was a truly risky enterprise converting 130 hectares to organic agriculture in three years, but finally he reached the certification in 2008.
If philosophy, values, and commitment led him to embrace organic agriculture fifteen years ago, this motivation remains intact and vibrant, and its fruits remain a source of continuing pride. Since 2021 the winery obtained the label of Demeter, biodynamic agriculture.
