The Domaine de la Patience is located near the Pont du Gard, between Nîmes and Avignon, in the Costières de Nîmes appellation and in the Coteaux du Pont du Gard IGP, at the limit of the Côtes du Rhône.
It was in 1994 that Christophe AGUILAR, after an experience as cooperative director, took over the family farm which only had a dozen hectares in Coteaux du Pont du Gard IGP. He wished to make his own cuvées so he bought a beautiful winery and began a long process of reencépagement on new plots, bordering scrubland. Anxious to respect the fruit of his land, he converted to BIO and, in 2008, obtained certification in organic. From this date he banished all use of pesticides. Domaine de la Patience extend over two communes, Bezouce in Costières de Nîmes with pebbles soil and Lédenon in Coteaux du Pont du Gard, a loess land.The northern terroir of Costières de Nîmes is located on a vast plateau of pebbles, close to the Côtes du Rhône appelation and was in the past recognized by the city of Paes d’Avignon. This terroir brings a complexity to the wines produced from grapes varieties as Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Carrignan and Vermentino. Closer to the Pont du Gard, in Lédenon, loess terraces where Syrah, Merlot, Grenache, Chardonnay and Cinsault are cultivated, bring the freshness and the fruit necessary for IGP growning grape varieties. The very sunny and always windy climate is conducive to organic cultivation. This exalts the quality of wines whose grapes are grown without weed killers, without pesticides or chemical fertilizers. The lees resulting from the vinification are reused in fertilizer and the work of plowing is favored.
This alchemy offers a wide range of fruity and spicy red wines, gourmet rosé wines and fresh whites.
