Information

Description
For four generations, the vines of Château Frédignac have been grown in this very special climate influenced by the Gironde estuary. In 1919, Jean-Marie L'AMOULLER, a Breton on a stopover in Blaye, fell in love with the region and a young woman from Blaye. It was here that the story of the Château Frédignac vineyard began.

The young sailor bought a house in the village of Frédignac and farmland in the commune of Saint-Martin-Lacaussade. The farm soon began producing milk and cereals, and planted vines on the Frédignac hillsides to produce wine. The vines thrived on the clay-limestone soils of the Gironde and, as time went by, the farm switched from mixed farming to monoculture. The vines of the former Château Saugeron - classified by Charles COCKS in September 1874 in Bordeaux et ses Vins, Éditions Féret (click) - were bought in the 1970s and improved the quality of production.

Continuing his development, Michel L'AMOULLER left the Cars wine cooperative in 1984 to launch the first vintage of Château Frédignac in the Premières Côtes de Blaye appellation.

In 2012, almost 100 years after the first vines were planted at Frédignac, the estate was taken over by Vincent and Ludivine. Both graduates in environmental sciences, they are gradually transforming the estate but remain committed to the values that have made Château Frédignac such a success.
