Description: Kranz Winery - Ilbesheim, Palatinate

The Kranz winery has been deeply rooted in Ilbesheim, in the heart of the Palatinate, since 1948. Now in its fourth generation, Boris Kranz has used his idealism, diligence and passion to make the special vineyard sites around the small Kalmit hill famous throughout the region and to achieve a top position among Palatinate winegrowers. In 2012, he was accepted into the VDP.
Boris Kranz: ‘Origin is everything’ - our aim is to create wines that are distinctive, authentic and long-lasting. We focus on natural manual labour and have been cultivating all our vineyards according to organic guidelines since 2013. The soils and microclimate around the Kleine Kalmit in Ilbesheim produce the best of our grape varieties: Pinot Blanc, Riesling and Pinot Noir as well as our taut, mineral-rich Kalkfels Chardonnay.’
The wines of Weingut Kranz reveal their character and origin in the glass, far removed from the mainstream and short-lived trends. With Xaver Kranz in the fifth generation, the winery continues on this path - with an eye for tradition, innovation and the future.
