Hall B2 - n°514
Information
- Description
- The Château la Genestière is the living memory of the history of the Avignon region.
In the 16th century the estate actually was a silkworm farm. The lake, which was used to
supply water for the mill for silk weaving, still illustrates this. The textile broom
(Spanish broom) was grown here. In the 18th century this silkworm farming activity
employed 15,000 people in Avignon, making France the world’s leading silk exporter.
The winegrowing history of the estate began in 1930 in Tavel. Since then, our vineyards
cover 200 hectares in Tavel, Lirac, Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Côtes-du-Rhône and
PGI Pays d’Oc wines. Here, Grenache and Syrah are king and bring greed and roundness.
They are the ideal companions for a simple, tasty and inventive cuisine.
