In the heart of the garrigue around Grès de Montpellier, set in lush Mediterranean nature, the Clos de l’Amandaie unfolds like a green carpet at the foot of a rocky landscape formed by the ruins of the ancient Aumelas Castle. The contrast between the rocky red soil loaded with iron oxide, and the blue Mediterranean sky produces a gift from nature.

For six generations the Peytavy family have grown vines on the slopes of Aumelas to the northwest of Montpellier and 15 kms from the terroir of Ariane. Each generation brought a touch of modernisation and it’s own signature to the wine, while benefitting from the advice and experience of previous generations.

We immediately adopted new methods: integrated viticulture, declining yields through every pruning and selective disbudding, organic fertilizer, tillage, no insecticides and low utilisation of sulfites. All of this sublimates the older parcels of our domain and are essential factors in creating beautiful and singular wines in the appellation Grés de Montpellier.

Today our vineyard, mainly on hillsides, represents 30 hectares in Organic Farming | Altitude of 250 meters

We produce white wines with a nice mineral and saline profile and red wines with a characteristic freshness with notes of mint and garrigue.

Since we started our adventure, we worked only with retailers and restaurants for sustainable partnership in France and overseas.
