- We are more than winemakers; we are storytellers. Our story is one of courage, of curiosity, of heart; it is one shaped by choosing the road less traveled. It began 200 years ago, among the nestled vineyards of our estate in the glorious countryside of Cadillac, where the art of winemaking was handed down from father to son for generations. That joyful day came in 2019, when Carine, daughter of Michel Darriet, succeeded her father as the 8th generation at the helm of the estate. Under her guidance, it has risen, phoenix-like, to champion a new approach: one that can simultaneously look to the past and to the future, one that seeks a return to origins while having the audacity to venture beyond the borders of established practice. Under the banner of Domaine des Perchés (a French word meaning both loony and elevated), Carine has dared to go where few have gone before. Desiring to both manifest and transmit her vision to future generations, starting with her son, Marius, she has poured her heart and soul into creating her ideal vineyard: a place where tradition and experimentation coexist, where grape varieties are chosen based on character rather than convention, and where nature and humanity, art and wine mix and mingle for the greater flourishing of all.
Domaine des Perchés produces 4 wines : Perchés Rouge, Perchés Blanc, GPS (a sweet white wine in tribute to the long family tradition firmly rooted in a sweet wine producing region from botrytised grapes) and Rù, a 6-months maceration wine in clay amphora.
Organic viticulture certified, Domaine des Perchés applies biodynamic practices.
