- Description
- Light, colours and Mediterranean scents welcome you to the Domaine des Fouques, between Hyères and La Londe, in the green valley of the Borrels.
We raise poultry and cultivate the vines in the greatest respect for the cycles of nature and the excellence of the taste of wine and Mediterranean products.
The 22 hectares of vines lean against the foothills of the Maures massif, facing the Mediterranean Sea and the island of Porquerolles.
The wines we produce are classified "Côtes de Provence AOP". The rosés and reds come from the Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault grape varieties, while the whites come from the Rolle, Ugni blanc and Clairette. The cultivation of the vine and the vinification of the grapes are carried out according to the principles of Biodynamic Agriculture.
The particular flavours of peaches and cherries are found in the rosé and white, dry and fruity wines that are already appreciated in France, the USA or Germany and soon, we hope, in the land of the Rising Sun.
Yves Gros, their daughter Christelle and her husband Jacques, have been working according to the rules of biodynamic agriculture, which they have been practising as pioneers in the region since 1991. This method aims to achieve harmony between plants, animals and humans, while respecting the lunar and planetary cycles.
The vine, cultivated in biodynamic methods, draws its mineral resources from a clayey-schist soil resulting from the old Hercynian mountain chain of 290 Million Years old. Organic resources are provided by compost from the farm's poultry (chickens, guinea fowls, ducks). One hectare is devoted to their outdoor breeding under cistus and mimosas, according to the rules of organic agriculture, they are fed with organic cereals and protein crops including local durum wheat, rich in protein (certification "Organic Agriculture" by Ecocert). The animals are slaughtered with respect and sold on site in a short circuit approach.
Thanks to the biodynamic method, sustainable soil fertility is created by balancing crop and livestock production, without any addition of fertilizers or synthetic chemicals. This virtuous approach makes it possible to resist conventional agriculture and promote greater resilience to climate change. These fruits of the soil, grapes and wine, can thus express all the qualities of the terroir guaranteed by the international brand DEMETER.
