Information
- Description
- We are a wine estate located on the Sarrians scrublands plateau, facing the Dentelles of Montmirail, with the famous Mont Ventoux west face in background. At the heart of the Vacqueyras appellation, the work in the vines, here, depends on the mistral whims. Indeed, it’s not uncommon to experience gusts of wind with a speed of around 100-120 km / h. This is why most of the rows of vines are planted in the direction of the wind and why working in a reasoned fight is quite delicate. The climatology means that this region is quite dry and the management of water in the soil is of paramount importance.
As far as the geology is concerned, the plateau resulting from an alluvial formation of the Mindel type which corresponds to gravel and sandy pebbles, more or less clayey depending on the plots.
The dominant grape varieties of the estate are Grenache, Syrah, then Cinsault, Mourvèdre, Roussanne, Bourboulenc, Grenache blanc, Clairette, Viognier, Muscat…and more recently Counoise.
The vineyard has been certified organic since 2008 but the estate was already in this state of mind since its creation in 2003.
We produce several appellations :
- Vacqueyras in the three colors
- Côtes du Rhône Villages Plan de Dieu red
- Côtes du Rhône
- IGP Vaucluse
- Muscat de Beaumes de Venise,
- and 2 new appellations in Côte du Rhône Village Sablet and Séguret.
The recent domain has always been dedicated to quality plantations and a qualitative grape variety to complement the Grenache. Soil work is common to give the expression of the vines terroir. We carry out weeding mechanically because we are against the use of herbicides. It’s in this ecological perspective that the estate has acquired around sixty ewes. Grazing makes it possible to control the growth of grass between the vines and to provide natural fertilizer through excrement. This limits the use of phytos products, the passage of the grinder and the turning of the soil. A fight against chemical pollution and soil gullying. Since 2021 we have been initiating the transition to biodynamics “Agriculture guaranteeing the health of the soil and plants to provide healthy food.
We carry out the green harvest on certain plots with the aim of extracting the highest quality from our terroirs.
The grapes are vinified by us: a traditional vinification, either we vinify the grape varieties separately, or we assemble them in vats according to their taste quality and their maturity. This early assembly allows a better harmonization and brings an aromatic complexity.
We do the bottling and labeling ourselves.
The estate does not use any chemicals, the cleaning of the cellar and all the machines is done with a hot water karcher.
