- Ideally located in the North-East of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, on the very renowned sandy terroirs of this historic appellation, the Clos du Caillou (a real Clos of 17ha of vines surrounded by a stone wall of more than 3km long), is a family wine estate, belonging to the Pouizin-Vacheron family, now represented by the fourth generation. The estate extends over 51 ha (9ha in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and 42ha in Côtes-du-Rhône), conducted in Organic Farming, certified since 2010, and in Biodynamics, in order to promote biodiversity and respect the soil and living things. .
Clos du Caillou has underground galleries built in the 19th century, which are now used for aging wines.
The wines, characteristic of their terroir, have great finesse and a lot of elegance.
In 2020, the Vacheron family decided to buy the Domaine de Panisse, an exceptional wine property located just 2km from the Clos du Caillou. On different terroirs, the 12ha of vines are in the final year of organic conversion, certification of which will be obtained for the 2024 vintage. The vineyard has traditional grape varieties (Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Cinsault), some of which were planted between 1924 and 1950.
