- Description
- Wine production
The vineyard was planted with a north-south exposure. The terroir is predominantly sandy, mixed underground with clay.
Chambord wines are produced in eco-certified organic farming. The grapes are harvested each year by hand, partly by volunteers, including Chambord agents.
Chambord has a real wine estate. The grapes are harvested and vinified there. The first harvests in Chambord were carried out in September 2018 on four hectares.
The last harvests
The 2023 harvests were exceptional!
During two weeks in September, they allowed the harvest of Sauvignon, Romorantin, Gamay, Pinot noir and Orbois. It’s a very good harvest which gives hope for a good 2023 vintage.
The vines were spared from the hail and experienced beautiful sunny days, accompanied by mild temperatures.
New vintage 2022: Château de Chambord red wine aged in oak barrels.
For five years, the Domaine national de Chambord has been making barrels from oaks from its forest park. These barrels are marketed to wine and spirits producers. For the first time in 2022, Château de Chambord red wine was aged in Chambord oak barrels. This experiment was carried out with 22 barrels and was very conclusive.
The number of hectoliters aged in barrels increases in 2023 thanks to 30 additional barrels.
