Information
- Description
- THE VINEYARD
Located on the Cordais plateau - Tarn, South West France - at an altitude of 300m on clay-limestone soils, the Clos Rocailleux is an area of 7 hectares of
vines. The grape varieties are mainly indigenous: Loin-de- l’œil, Mauzac for the whites; Braucol and Duras for the reds. Muscadelle and Syrah enrich this aromatic palette. Le Clos Rocailleux is certified in Organic Agriculture since 2021.
THE VINES
Beyond this label, the work in the field aims to promote a virtuous ecosystem. After the harvest, one row out of two remains grassed while in the other, a plant cover is sown in order to keep the ground covered all winter; in the spring, it is laid down to provide organic matter. Meadows separate the different plots and the mowing is late, thus promoting biodiversity. The hedges present are of course preserved and a project for planting trees is being developed.
THE CELLAR
This philosophy is reflected in the cellar: the wines are vinified naturally (indigenous yeasts) with a minimum of intervention in order to preserve all the authenticity of the grape varieties and soils. The grappes are handly picked up to ensure an healthy harvest, to keep the berries intact, but also to prolong the life of the vines.
