Information
- Description
- The Château de Suronde is a magical estate in the middle of the vineyard, surrounded by nature and shaped by the Layon river, a tributary of the Loire. The estate, located on one of the most beautiful terroirs of the Anjou Noir, 30 minutes from Angers, is a nugget of Biodiversity within the Loire Valley. Kathleen Van den Berghe bought this place in 2016, in order to complete the offer of Château de Minière and to give its most beautiful expressions to Chenin Blanc. The property extends over 6 hectares of vines, 100% Chenin Blanc aged from 15 to 70 years, and planted on schist soils. Among them, 5.5 hectares are in the AOC Quarts de Chaume, the only Grand Cru of the Loire Valley. This historical place follows the lines of the Layon river, a tributary of the Loire, which runs at the foot of the hillsides, where the Chenin Blanc takes root. The Château de Suronde is conditioned by the surrounding nature. It has 10 hectares of gardens, farmland and forests that create a wonderful biodiversity around the vines, which are cultivated in Biodynamic (Demeter). The wines are certified in Organic Agriculture (Ecocert).
