- Description
- The property Mondésir-Gazin is located "Right Bank" of the Gironde in the continuity of the prestigious appellations of Saint-Emilion and Pomerol, near the famous citadel of Blaye built by Vauban and classified as a UNESCO world heritage site. Vines are planted on mainly clay-limestone soils. The vineyard is a set of plots producing wines from the appellations Côtes-de-Bordeaux and Côtes-de-Bourg. It is made up of two red varieties: Merlot, an emblematic variety of the Bordeaux region that gives wines with medium acidity and medium tannins and develops aromas of red fruits, strawberries and raspberries; the second red variety is Malbec, different from Argentine Malbec and which brings structure in the assemblage, its pronounced color and aromas of black fruits. Part of the wines from the estate are aged in 400-litre barrels for a period that varies according to the vintage; part is aged in concrete tanks..
The property produces a wine called nature, without added sulfites, particularly fresh and fruity.
The property also produces a white wine from two varieties: the rich and seveux Semillon that provides structure and volume to the wine with aromas of fruit, pear, apricot and flowers, acacia; the Sauvignon that completes the wine by its finesse and aromas
of toasted bread and vanilla. The white wine is aged in 400-litre oak barrels on its lees; it is stick for 6 months.
Acquired since July 2022 by Jean-Pierre and Patricia Simon, the Mondésir-Gazin property is disruptive in its operation and in the elaboration of its wines and is accompanied by the Derenoncourt Firm to evolve the wines with a concern for quality and modernity
